A real estate agent located the body of Yurian Cabrera Tacoronte more than a week ago in an abandoned house in the La Isleta neighborhood. Yurian, 35, had been missing for two years and his body was found in an advanced state of decomposition which makes his identification difficult, so the national police took several days to inform his mother that the main hypothesis is that it is Yurian, waiting to know the data of the DNA comparison.
The Homicide Group continues an investigation to try to determine the cause of death. According to Toñi Tacoronte, mother of the deceased, the case is under summary secrecy and they have almost no information, other than the fact that they will have to wait several weeks to bury the body because the investigators have to wait to receive the data from autopsy.
Yurian Cabrera was found inside an abandoned house in Artemi Semidán street of La Isleta, where it is suspected that he remained throughout this time. The real estate agent informed the National Police of the report, and the Homicides agents were responsible for collecting the investigations to open an investigation to try to determine the causes of death, according to the sources consulted.
“I have been in real agony for two years.. Waiting for news, waiting for the call to tell me that we know something about him or that his executioners have been arrested, but he doesn’t come. Toñi is the mother of Yurian Cabrera Tacoronte, who disappeared in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in May 2020. Two months ago, she denounced his absence on the event and investigation portal CASO ABIERTO, of Prensa Ibérica. She lived glued to the telephone, her heart torn from searching. The call fell in the worst possible way, after two years of absence his lifeless body was located, “I only know it’s him, I don’t know more”.
On May 12, 2020, after singing happy birthday to her, he left the house. It was the last time they were together. “Yuri came out with what he was wearing, he had no mobile phone or papers,” Toñi denounced. After a few days with no response, “I thought she was with friends, I don’t know”, she went looking for her.
He contacted his environment, investigated, beat. There was nothing leading to it. “I looked for my son in the places where he used to stop and, not finding him anywhere, I went to file a complaint.”
He spread his image, shouted his name. “A person who knew him came and told me that Yuri had been kidnapped, killed and disappeared.“. It was the first time he had heard this version.
Days passed, with no data, no progress, no answers, and the letter arrived. An anonymous message that began with: “Do not tell the police”, remembers his mother. “That he didn’t communicate anything, but that he told me because he liked my son very much.” The text gave details of who and how, “they went after him, they killed him”, explained all the details of the disappearance. “I was hoping my son had gone to another island and would call me, but my son isn’t leaving for two years and he’s keeping me like this.”
The phone rang. SOS Disappeared, who always accompanied Toñi, deactivates his alert. The answer has arrived. Yurian is there, but he is not.
